Court issues notice to Gujarat SIT

The court issued the notice after advocates for the victims of Naroda patiya massacre, in which 95 people were killed, said senior police officers, including the then Joint commissioner of Police, M K Tandon, should be made accused in the case.

It had also sought details of the role played by the then minister of state, Home, Gordhan Zadafiya.

During the earlier hearing the SIT had told the court that since the investigations were in progress it could not divulge details about the evidences found against the police officers.

However, the victims approached the court recently arguing that since the SIT had submitted its final report to the apex court, it should say whether the SIT had probed the role of senior police officials oir not.

Final report

“The court has now given notice to the SIT to submit the final action taken report on the further probe it had conducted till October 1 last year,” said Mukul Sinha, Lawyer and Activist of Jan Sangharsh Manch.
