Cow, Sanskrit and farmers will form core issues of the Congress government in Rajasthan, Governor Kalyan Singh said in his speech during the Assembly session.

Singh highlighted the priorities of the new state government, led by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, for the next 100 days.

It will work towards making farmers economically empowered, generate employment in the animal husbandry and dairy sectors, set up a farmers’ commission, and tackle problems related to cow shelters, he said.

In his address, the Governor on Thursday accused the Vasundhara Raje government of getting “distracted” from vital issues, while attempting to find faults with its predecessor Congress regime.

According to the text of the Governor's speech, "The BJP government got distracted over useless issues like finding flaws in its previous government. Due to which, the economic growth in the state slowed under Raje."

Singh alleged Raje for weak policies in the agriculture sector, due to which the growth rate had declined to 3.95% in 2017-18 from 8.94% in 2013-14.

Singh's speech promises that the state government will strengthen Panchayati raj institutions and assure jobs under National Rural Employment Guarantee Act in the next five years.

Earlier in the day, Rashtriya Loktantrik Party president Hanuman Beniwal and two other MLAs from his party interrupted Singh's address and rushed into the Well of the House. However, the Governor continued his speech and congratulated the newly elected legislators. The major portion of his speech was tabled.
