Last Updated 27 September 2018, 18:20 IST

A CBI court in Raipur granted conditional bail to Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee president Bhupesh Baghel in the sex CD case and was released on a security bond of Rs 1 lakh.

Baghel agreed to apply for bail after senior AICC leaders persuaded him to do so. Earlier, Bahel had refused to apply for the bail and had said that he will start 'Satyagraha' inside the prison.

A delegation led by MP from Durg Tamradwaj Sahu and Leader of Opposition TS Singhdeo on Thursday called on Baghel in the Central Jail. They apprised him about the instructions of AICC to get bail. They convinced him to file the bail application.

After the release, Baghel said his fight against the state government will continue. Singhdeo said the Congress will get two-third majority in the upcoming Assembly elections. On holding manifesto meeting without CPCC chief, he said that Punia had given the direction to hold the meeting soon.

Baghel is accused of circulating a sex CD purportedly featuring a Chhattisgarh minister.

The Congress has claimed that more than 50,000 office-bearers and workers across the state had courted arrested in protest against the filing of a fake case against the Congress state chief.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Raman Singh said that the game of bail-jail has been continuing for a few days. "If Baghel wanted to take bail, then why create so much drama. The people know all these political drama."
