Common University Entrance Test-PG results announced

The National Testing Agency (NTA) on Monday announced the results for the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for postgraduate programmes, announcing the names of toppers across streams. In all, over 6.07 lakh students sat for the test.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) asked universities to prepare a rank list of students for admissions to postgraduate courses on the basis of ‘raw marks’, and not NTA scores. The NTA had faced criticism from students for incorrect answer keys.

A day before the results for the computer-based test, where candidates had to answer through multiple-choice questions, was declared, the UGC wrote to universities asking them to make preparations like portals so that the admission process could go off smoothly.

The NTA, in a release, said that though the exam was voluntary for universities, a total of 66 universities, including 27 central universities, participated. As many as 6,07,648 candidates registered for the test, and 3,34,997 appeared. Among these were 15 students of the third gender.

This is the first edition of the exam for post-graduate courses, the UGC said that going forward this will be the format for admissions in universities and colleges. With 3.5 lakh applications, the Banaras Hindu University received the highest number of applications, followed by Jawaharlal Nehru University which received 2.3 lakh applications.
