A day after he embarrassed the Congress by openly expressing his displeasure at the party for delaying the seat-sharing deal, Indian Secular Front (ISF) chief Abbas Siddiqui said that he has information that a Congress leader is in touch with both the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the BJP and would switch to one of the parties depending on the West Bengal Assembly election results.

He further alleged that the Congress leader has told both the TMC and BJP that after winning from his own seat he would join the side that would give him a key post.

“A veteran politician told me that a senior Congress leader is in touch with both Didi and Modi. The Congress leader has told them that he will win from his own seat and will join them if given a major post,” Siddiqui said on Monday.

“I asked his name and the senior politician told me that it could not be disclosed. I was thinking about it and that’s why yesterday (Sunday) I made my stand clear. They (Congress) should make it clear whether they want to leave seats for us,” he said.

Siddiqui said that Congress should make its stand clear.

“They should come clear. Both of us have full freedom to leave or not to leave seats to each other,” he added.

Siddiqui said that if his words at the mega rally at the Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata have hurt State Congress president Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury then he would apologise.

“I have written to you stating that if you leave me certain seats in the interest of the people and to stop the division of votes, then I will fight for you and not field candidates where your party is contesting. Then we can avoid eating into each others’ vote base,” said Siddiqui.

Denying the allegation, senior State Congress leader Pradip Bhattacharya said that “there is no question of extending any kind of help to the TMC by the Congress. The State Congress president will speak on it if necessary. I don’t know who gave such information to him (Siddiqui). It's totally baseless.”
