BJP MLA from the Bishnupur constituency in West Bengal Tanmoy Ghosh joined the Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Monday. He accused the saffron party of trying to create chaos in Bengal.

Speaking to reporters, Ghosh who joined in presence of Education Minister Bratya Basu, said that it was because of the BJP’s attempt to create chaos in Bengal that he decided to join the TMC.

“The BJP is resorting to vindictive politics. Strengthening Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s hands is the need of the hour. I urge everyone to join the TMC,” said Ghosh.

Accusing the BJP of trying to target the TMC for its defeat in the last Assembly election, Basu said, “ We will fight them (BJP) politically. They are trying to malign the people of Bengal,” said Basu.

He urged everyone to join the TMC but said that the decision of whether anyone will be inducted into the party will be taken by the top leadership.

Earlier BJP MLA Mukul Roy joined the TMC. However, he is yet to resign from his post. Two other BJP MLAs Nisith Pramanik and Jagannath Sarkar resigned to continue as MPs.
