The Election Commission (EC) sought a report from the state administration regarding an incident of violence in the Boyal area of the high-takes Nandigram Assembly seat in West Bengal on Thursday. Earlier in the day TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee was stuck inside a polling booth in Boyal for nearly two hours as TMC and BJP workers clashed outside.

According to sources in the EC, Deputy Election Commissioner Sudeep Jain sought a report from the state administration regarding the incident in Boyal and the death of a TMC worker in Keshpur late on Wednesday night.

They further revealed that Jain also spoke to the Chief Electoral Officer of Bengal Aariz Aftab in this regard.

Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister accused the EC of inaction and alleged that it was working under the instruction of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and was supporting BJP candidates. She made a similar allegation against the Central forces.

Thirty constituencies in four districts went to polls in the second phase of the West Bengal Assembly elections.
