After ruckus in the Bihar Assembly over the seizure of a huge quantity of liquor from a school in Muzaffarpur, the Bihar police is now likely to arrest the owner of the educational institution, who, incidentally, is the brother of Bihar Minister Ram Surat Rai.

The Bihar police have prayed before the Special Excise Court to issue an arrest warrant against Hanslal Rai, owner of the school from where 816 cartons of liquor were seized from a truck and four vans.

Bihar’s Revenue and Land Reforms Minister Ram Surat Rai has been facing embarrassing moments on the floor of the House after Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav launched a blistering attack on Nitish’s prohibition policy over the seizure of liquor from the school which was run by the minister’s kin.

“Arrest such person (minister’s brother) and set an example to show that everyone is equal before the law,” said Tejashwi, while gunning for the minister’s scalp.

The minister defended himself and said he had cut off all the ties with his brother. “Why should I suffer for any wrong-doing by my kin? Should Tejashwi be penalised for any wrong-doing by his father (Lalu Prasad) or any other kin?” the Revenue and Land Reforms Minister counter-argued.

Meanwhile, an FIR has already been lodged against the minister’s brother. “We have filed a petition in the special excise court seeking an arrest warrant against the accused Hanslal and nine others,” said Senior SP (SSP) of Muzaffarpur, Jayant Kant.
