'TMC may have setting with removed CBI officers'

Trinamool Congress (TMC) is raising so much hue and cry about the removal of CBI Director Alok Verma and Special Director Rakesh Asthana because they may have “a setting” with these officers, alleged BJP’s West Bengal President Dilip Ghosh on Thursday. Mr Asthana was supervising the investigation of the Saradha and Narada cases in which several TMC leaders were allegedly involved.

“Perhaps TMC had some kind of setting with these officers and that’s why they are raising so much hue and cry following their removal,” said Ghosh on the sidelines of a party program.

Ghosh also said that the BJP government at the Centre has taken strong steps to deal with the infighting in CBI.

“It was necessary to take strong steps to deal with the infighting in CBI and the government has done exactly that,” said Ghosh. His comments come a day after West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee dubbed CBI as “so-called BBI (BJP Bureau of Investigation).

In a late night development on Tuesday, Verma and Asthana were asked to go on leave, following which CBI’s Joint Director M. Nageshwara Rao was instructed to perform the duties of CBI director according to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training.
