TMC starts survey to get public opinion on candidates

Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections Trinamool Congress (TMC) has started a door to door survey in all the 42 Lok Sabha seats in West Bengal to get the public opinion on who should be the party candidates. The survey is also being conducted to plug the holes in TMC’s election machinery.

According to TMC sources in the survey names of four potential party candidates were given to a section of voters from each Lok Sabha constituencies and asked whom would they want to be fielded from the constituency.

TMC leadership has employed 100 surveyors in all Assembly constituencies under the 42 Lok Sabha seats. A Lok Sabha seat comprises of six Assembly constituencies.

“ Initial reports of the survey have shown that a large number of voters in south Bengal want the TMC to change the celebrity candidates whom they elected last time. Similar views have come up for an MP in south Bengal. These will be kept in mind during the selection of candidates,” said a senior TMC leader.

TMC sources further revealed that the party leadership has ramped up the party’s social media campaign to take on the BJP. TMC has deployed its 40,000 strong IT cell for the purpose which includes more than 200 IT cyber experts.

In a bid to reach out to voters further and increase awareness about the welfare schemes of the Mamata Banerjee government the TMC leadership in keen on setting up 10,000 whats app group across the state. Each group comprising of 256 members each are tasked with increasing public awareness about the developmental activities of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and the state government.

“ We have also selected at least 10 IT experts in each district to counter fake news and information on social media. Our IT cell is also training party workers on the usage of VVPATs,” said the TMC leader.

BJP is also conducting a survey in Bengal to determine in which seats it has best potential to win.
