Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday lashed out at West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee over the alleged corrupt practices of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) urging the people to vote for Prime Minister Narendra Modi if they want pro-people schemes and vote for TMC if they want scams.

Speaking at a rally at Bagmundi in Purulia district Shah further alleged that not only did the TMC fail to create jobs in Bengal but also chased away the automobile industry from the state.

“First, it was the Left Front Government whose actions caused a flight of capitals from Bengal. Then came Didi, who chased away the automobile industry from the state. She failed to create jobs in the State. If you want development schemes vote for Modi ji, if you want scams vote for the TMC. It is for you to decide,” said Shah.

Seeking to corner the TMC over corruption charges, Shah said that if voted to power, the BJP will end “cut-money culture” in Bengal. He further alleged that the TMC was aloof to the needs of the Kurmi and tribal communities, he said that if voted to power in Bengal, the BJP will ensure that every Kurmi and tribal family in the state gets one job each.

“We will provide one job each to every Krumi and tribal family in Bengal. Under the TMC regime, the tribals do not get MSP for their produce but if voted to power we will include their produce in the list of crops so they become eligible for the MSP,” said Shah.

He also said that the BJP will ensure that every child of the Kurmi community gets free education up to class 10 in their own language.

With a population of about 30 lakh, the Kurmis are a deciding factor in elections not only in Purulia but also in the districts of Jhargram, West Medinipur and Bankura.

Referring to the drinking water crisis in Purulia, Shah alleged that the Chief Minister forced the people to drink fluoride-contaminated water and promised that the BJP will set up a Rs 10,000-crore drinking water project in the district.

“If you want to be free from dengue and malaria in the region, then you have to vote Didi out of power. She has done nothing to address the issue as she has an affinity with the diseases,” said Shah.
