Indian Army will come up with an action plan to help soldiers disabled in the line of duty, said Army Chief General Bipin Rawat. He was speaking to media persons on the sidelines of the convocation ceremony of Military College of Electronics and Mechanical Engineering (MCEME) here on Friday.

“There are two different categories of disabled jawans. One, those who need temporary support and those whose families also were affected by the permanent disability of a jawan. We will prepare the data based on the type and size of the disability and will come up with the policy to assist them accordingly”, he explained. Those needing limbs would get limbs. Cases of those requiring financial assistance will be addressed accordingly. The assistance programme would aim at examining the conditions and requirements on a case-to-case basis. He said the enumeration of the disabled jawans is underway.

Earlier, addressing the passing out graduating officers, General Rawat said, “Never let your initial success to go into your head. Those who lose motivation will drop out of the race. To keep the crown on your head eternally, you have to constantly struggle’. Exhorting them to keep trying innovations, he said, “Success is never permanent. Failure should become motivation for you”.

“Future battle space will be dominated by guided missiles, artificial intelligence, unmanned platforms and network-centric warfare. As can be well imagined, army tech warriors will be at the forefront for the sustenance of these weapon systems.” Army chief conferred engineering degrees to 27 Officers of Degree Engineering and 40 Officers of Technical Entry Scheme Course in a smartly conducted Convocation Ceremony. The 67 officers include two women officers and two officers from Rwanda.
