Three persons were injured in an explosion inside a train in lower Assam's Udalguri district on Saturday.

Chief public relations officer of Northeast Frontier Railways, Pranav Jyoti Sharma told DH that the explosion occurred on Rangiya-Dekargaon inter-city express train, near Harisinga railway station. "As per preliminary information, the injuries were not serious," he said.

Harisinga railway station is about 150 km north-west of Guwahati.

Police were ascertaining the culprits behind the blast.

Police suspect an improvised explosive device planted inside the train may have caused the explosion in the fourth compartment from the engine.
