Kolkata Police arrested four persons for allegedly buying and selling counterfeit Indian currency notes in central Kolkata late on Friday night.

Counterfeit notes amounting to Rs. 4 lakhs of Rs. 2000 denomination each were seized from the accused, a senior Kolkata Police official said on Saturday. The arrests were made by the anti-FICN team of Kolkata Police’s STF which disclosed the development on Saturday.
 
“ The arrests were made late on Friday night by the Anti-FICN team of STF who intercepted three FICN racketeers in central Kolkata while they were selling and purchasing counterfeit Indian currency notes among themselves,” said a senior police official. 
 
Police sources revealed that among the three arrested one (Paran Mondal) is from Malda district of Bengal , the two others (Mahendar Prasad, Pappu Prsad) are from the Nalanda district of Bihar.
 
The accused have been booked under Sections 120 B (criminal conspiracy), 489 BI(using as genuine,counterfeit currency notes) and 489 C  (possession of counterfeit currency notes) of the IPC and were remanded to police custody till December 27 by a city court.
