For family's honour, man kills daughter, her lover

In yet another case of honor killing in Uttar Pradesh, a man reportedly hacked his daughter and her lover to death in the state's Moradabad town, about 350 kilometre from Lucknow.

According to police sources, for the past few years Rabia and Fazil, who hails from the neighboring Bareilly district, had been having an affair.

Rabia's family was against this and about three years ago, got her married to another person, who works in a Gulf country.

Even after the marriage, Rabia and Fazil kept contact and also sometimes met each other.

A month ago, Rabia's husband informed his in-laws that the girl wanted a divorce and marry Fazil.

Despite attempts to persuade her to sever the relations with Fazil, she remained adamant, refused to abandon the boy and insisted on living with him.

Rabia's father Shamshad and her brother Dilshad asked Fazil to come to Moradabad on the pretext of getting him married to Rabia.

The unsuspecting lover was hacked to death and his body dumped at a secluded place.

After a few hours, they strangled Rabia to death and buried her body, sources said.

The police recovered Fazil's body on Tuesday.

Investigations revealed that Fazil had been killed by Shamshad and Dilshad. The two were arrested along with their accomplice on Thursday.

The father said that he had no regrets and he did it for the ''honour'' of his family.
