The Gujarat High Court on Wednesday issued a notice to the state government seeking its response on a petition filed by a father seeking euthanasia for his 25-year-old daughter suffering from cerebral palsy.
The petitioner said that since the disease is not curable, steps should be taken to end the "miserable life" his daughter leads.
The petitioner said he found out about the disease when his daughter was barely six months old. She has been bed-ridden for the past 22 years.
Various experts have told him that his daughter can't be cured.
The father has attached pictures of the young woman to the petition to prove that she can't move on her own and depends on others for everything.
