Disruptions due to faulty electronic voting machines in two districts, allegations of sabotage and announcement of re-polling marked the second and final phase of local body elections in Kerala on Thursday.

Even as re-polling was announced in 114 stations — 105 in Malappuram and nine in Thrissur — official figures showed a 74 per cent turnout across seven districts.

In Malappuram, the district administration is learnt to have recommended re-polling in about 90 stations. Even as re-polling was ordered in four stations in Thrissur, official figures showed a 74 per cent turnout across the seven districts.

While Malappuram recorded a 74 per cent turnout till 5 pm, Thrissur had a 71 per cent turnout. Pathanamthitta (70 per cent), Alappuzha (77 per cent), Kottayam (77 per cent), Ernakulam (73 per cent) and Palakkad (77 per cent) are the other districts that went to poll in the second phase.
