Freebies galore in TDP & YSRCP manifestoes

On the auspicious day of Ugadi, Telugu Desam Party and the YSR Congress Party have released their pro-poor, farmer-centric manifestoes showering freebies from laptop to one lakh gift for daughters’ marriage, free health and life insurance and cash inputs for farmers.

TDP Chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu after offering prayers at the Durga temple here placed the manifesto at the deity’s feet before releasing it to media at his official residence in Undavalli at the riverfront. The Manifesto named “Your future-My responsibility” has the founder of the party NTRs’ slogan of ‘Society is the temple and poor people are gods’ as an underlying principle.

Highlights of the Manifesto:

Rs 10,000 gift and Pasupu Kumkuma scheme to DWCRA women every year

Old age and other pensions to be hiked to Rs 3000

Chandranna Beema of Rs 10 lakh for all

Inter-linking of 140 rivers and streams

12-hour power supply to agriculture

Waiver of bank loans under NTR Housing for poor 12 lakh beneficiaries

Rs 2 lakh minimum income assurance for poor families

Unemployment allowance from intermediate level students

Free Medical treatment

And permanent job assurance for contract Employees

A separate Bank for the Backwards classes

YSRCP

YSRC chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Saturday released his party's manifesto focusing on farming sector, and health. Other features include education, dolling out financial assistance to different sectors of the economy, including unemployed, petty traders, SC, ST, BC, minorities and financially weaker sections in upper castes. “If voted to power we will implement the manifesto in true word and spirit,” Jagan said at the release function in Vijayawada.

To monitor the implementation, Jagan proposed a day to day review system. Leaving behind the cash incentives offered by the Telangana government and the centre, Jagan said through YSR Rythu Bharosa scheme his government will offer Rs 50,000 cash incentive. Rs seven lakh insurance to the family of a farmer in case of the sudden death of the latter under YSRC Bhima, Strengthening of YSRC Aarogyasri scheme, are the few other schemes in the offing.
