In a claim that created ripples in Maharashtra politics, senior Congress leader Sushilkumar Shinde on Tuesday claimed that he got an offer to switch over to BJP.
"I got an offer," Shinde, a former chief minister and ex-union home minister, told a TV channel.
Asked about details, he said: "Obviously from BJP."
When probed as to who approached him, the former Andhra Pradesh governor said: "A person of my stature approached me."
Shinde is a Congress candidate from the Solapur seat.
