Kerala Governor P Sathasivam cast his vote in the Assembly election on Monday, in a first for governors in the state, DHNS reports from Thiruvananthapuram.

The governor cast his vote, along with his wife Saraswathi, at the Jawahar Nagar LP school in the Assembly constituency of Vattiyoorkavu in Thiruvananthapuram.

“My request is…all the eligible Keralites should vote. As the first citizen, I’m requesting all to come and vote, so I have to do it. Today, I did it,” Sathasivam told reporters at the polling station. The Governor enrolled as a voter in the constituency earlier this month;
Thiruvananthapuram District Collector Biju Prabhakar had visited the Raj Bhavan to hand over the voters’ slips to the Governor and his wife.

Vattiyoorkavu is witnessing a 3-cornered fight among sitting MLA of the Congress K Muraleedharan, CPM’s T N Seema and BJP state president Kummanam Rajasekharan.
