India protests Imran Khan's comment on Kashmir

India protested against Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan's reference to the row over Kashmir while formally launching the construction of “Kartarpur Corridor” on Wednesday.

“It is deeply regrettable that the prime minister of Pakistan chose to politicise the pious occasion meant to realise the long pending demand of the Sikh community to develop a Kartarpur corridor by making unwarranted reference to Jammu and Kashmir which is an integral and inalienable part of India,” Raveesh Kumar, spokesperson of the MEA said.

Khan on Wednesday formally launched the construction of the Kartarpur Corridor in Pakistan. India is also building a similar corridor in its side of the border. Once the construction of both corridors is complete, Sikh pilgrims from India will be able to visit Guru Nanak's final resting place in Pakistan without requiring passports or visas.

Khan, while launching the works on Kartarpur Corridor, said the issue of Kashmir was the only dispute between the Pakistan and India.

“Pakistan is reminded that it must fulfill its international obligations and take effective and credible action to stop providing shelter and all kind of support to cross-border terrorism from territories under its control,” said Kumar.
