<p>Only one Indian employed in Liberia has died of Ebola virus infection earlier this year, the government said today.</p>.<p>"As per reports available with the government, there has been only one Indian casualty so far. Mohammed Amir who was employed in a pharmacy in Liberia died of Ebola virus infection on September 7, 2014," Minister of State of External Affairs V K Singh told Lok Sabha in a written reply.<br /><br />He said that his family members were informed about the incident. As per the World Health Organisation (WHO) norms, the body of the deceased was buried locally.</p>.<p>Singh said that India missions are facilitating access of India nationals to proper treatment facilities as and when required.</p>.<p>He said that Indian missions covering Ebola-affected countries have been directed to remain in regular contact with the Indian community as well as with government and UN agencies concerned to ensure their safety and well-being.<br /><br />"In addition, Indian Missions have been issuing regular advisories and facilitating travel of those who had wanted to return to India," he said.</p>.<p>As per reports till November 20, WHO has said that 5,420 people had so far died of Ebola across eight countries, out of a total 15,145 cases of infection, since late December 2013. </p>
