Judge held for raping woman advocate

A judge from Telangana's Nalgonda district was arrested by police on Tuesday on charges of rape and exploitation of a tribal woman advocate by promising to marry her.

The Chikkadpally Police produced him before a Nampally court which remanded him to 14 days in judicial custody.

According to Chikkadpally Police inspector S Bheem Reddy, the advocate complained early this month that P Satyanarayana, the Thungathurthy junior field judge of Suryapet, had lured her with promise to marry and exploited her sexually.

But, recently, he got engaged to another woman. The judge and the advocate live in Chikkadpally area in Hyderabad, though he works in Thungaturthy.

The police have registered a case of rape and various sections of the SC, ST Atrocities (Prevention) Act.

The inspector said preliminary investigation had substantiated the woman's charges. The police took permission from the high court for the arrest of the judge.
