Telangana Rashtra Samithi chief and caretaker Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Wednesday filed his nomination papers from the Gajwel Assembly constituency here for the elections slated for December 7.

Rao offered special prayers at Lord Venkateshwara temple in Konaipalli in Siddipet district before proceeding to Gajwel to file papers before the Returning Officer at the Revenue Divisional Office.

KCR, along with four others, reached the office at 2.30 pm and filed the papers at 2.34 pm as per the 'muhurat'.

After offering prayers, KCR addressed the people of Konaipalli, reminding them that a long battle was fought to create Telangana even though the people of Andhra created many hurdles.

Asking people to be prepared for a long battle, he said he wished to see enough bank balance in every farmer's account.

He also took a vow to wash the feet of Venkateshwara Swamy with Godavari water by completing the Kaleshwaram project.

KCR said he has won every election that he contested after offering prayers at Konaipalli. "It is always a matter of pride for me to say I am a son of Siddipet though I have had gone on to become the chief minister of the state," he said.

He also urged the people to vote for his nephew and Irrigation Minister Harish Rao. Hundreds of villagers greeted him as he walked down to the temple leaving his convoy at a distance.

Rao filed his nomination papers at Siddipet. He also offered prayers at the Konaipalli temple along with his uncle before filing his papers.

M Madhusudanachary, the speaker of the recently dissolved Telangana Assembly, also filed his nomination on Wednesday, at the Bhupalapally constituency.
