Now, Shiv Sena backs Kejriwal

Last Updated 18 June 2018, 14:27 IST

The Shiv Sena on Monday backed Arvind Kejriwal a few days after four non-BJP chief ministers came out in the support of their Delhi counterpart.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) ministers and leaders are demanding a direction from Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal to the IAS officers working in the Delhi administration to end their undeclared strike, among other demands.

On Saturday, four chief ministers - Mamata Banerjee (West Bengal), N Chandrababu Naidu (Andhra Pradesh), Pinarayi Vijayan (Kerala) and H D Kumaraswamy (Karnataka) - addressed a joint press conference in support of Kejriwal and asserted that the rift between Baijal and the AAP government must come to an end.

Also, on Sunday, Kejriwal spoke to Sena president Uddhav Thackeray.

"Uddhavji told him (Kejriwal) what Balasaheb (Thackeray) used to say that 'any political party which gets overwhelming majority has the right to work and take policy decisions'...whether the government is of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Sikkim or Delhi," said Sena spokesperson Sanjay Raut.
