Kerala Cong not happy with sops on W Ghats

Politics regarding ecologically sensitive Western Ghats is refusing to die down in Kerala.

 Despite Chief Minister Oommen Chandy’s repeated statements that the Union ministry has addressed all major concerns raised by the state, a faction of the Kerala Congress – the main ally in the ruling United Democratic Front –intensified dissent on Wednesday.

Minister for Water Resources P J Joseph, a prominent KC leader, stayed away from Wednesday’s state cabinet meeting as a mark of protest. 

Members of the Joseph faction along with the High Range Protection Council have maintained that only a fresh notification, and not office memorandums, would allay fears of people living in the Ghats.
