Kerala Police get proof of Bitti's identity

The Kerala Police team which is in Puttaparthi to track the past of Bitti Mohanty has found tangible evidence to prove that Raghav Rajan is indeed Bitti.

Payyannur Circle Inspector Abdul Rahim told Deccan Herald from Puttaparthi that the police team got enough evidence in a raid conducted on the residence where Bitti stayed for about three years. He added that the team had submitted the evidence in Penukonda Court, Puttaparthi, on Wednesday.

The success in tracking the evidence will come as a breakthrough as the police so far had no documents to prove that Raghav Rajan and Bitti are the same person.
Bitti is said to have worked as a teacher, both in a school and a college. It was only after he failed to get admitted to the MBA course there that he set off to Kannur.

The police team has also learnt that Bitty has visitors from Odisha, indicating that his father, the former Odisha DGP B B Mohanty, had close contact with his son.

Loopholes in certificate verification process helped Bitti Mohanty, the son of former Odisha DGP B B Mohanty, to get through with the alias Raghav Rajan, in Kannur.

Bitti had completed MBA in the name of Raghav Rajan from a self financed institution, Chinmaya Institute of Technology at Chala in Kannur during 2009-11. Upon successfully completing the course, Kannur University awarded the certificate.

When Deccan Herald spoke to University Pro Vice-Chancellor Dr A P Kuttikrishnan, he said that “Raghav Rajan, through his institution, had submitted a BTech certificate given by Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology University (KIITU) in Bhubaneswar. “As KIITU is a deemed university and recognised across the country, we didn’t doubt the veracity of the certificate,’’ he clarified.

The pro vice-chancellor added that except for the foreign students, there is no provision to check the domicile of other  students. “The university has made no lapses regarding the case of (verification) Raghav Rajan. The impersonation of Bitti is not at all our issue,’’ he maintained. 

Dr Kuttikrishnan said that the equivalent certificate issued by the university has got nothing to do with the student but syllabus.
