GST return filing extended in flood-hit states

Last Updated 31 August 2018, 16:06 IST

In view of the disruption caused by floods in Kerala, Mahe (Puducherry) and Kodagu (Karnataka), the Centre on Tuesday extended the due date for filing GST returns to October 5 for taxpayers registered in these areas.

The due date for filing GSTR-1 for the month of July for taxpayers having turnover above Rs 1.5 crore will be October 5. The same return for August can be filed by people of these regions on or before October 10.

GSTR-1 for the quarter July to September, 2018 for the tax payers of above regions having turnover up to Rs 1.5 crore will be November 15, Union Finance Minister Piyush Goyal said.

The government has extended the last date for filing of GST summary sales returns or GSTR-3B for tax payers outside the above three regions, to August 24. The earlier due date was August 20. The move follows technical glitches.

GST collections have risen to Rs 96,483 crore in July from Rs 95,610 crore mopped up in the previous month.
