Lok Sabha adjourned sine die

This was the last full session of the 16th Lok Sabha.

The Lok Sabha was on Tuesday adjourned sine die after passing three bills, including one amending the Constitution to provide 10% reservation to economically weaker sections, on the last day of the Winter Session.

This was the last full session of the 16th Lok Sabha.

Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan adjourned the House soon after the passage of the Constitution (124th Amendment) Bill 2019 that provides 10% reservation for economically backward people in the general category in jobs and educational institutions.

Mahajan said the Lower House passed a total of 16 bills including, Citizenship Amendment Bill, the Muslim Women Protection Bill, Surrogacy (Regulation) Bill and the Consumer Protection Bill among others.

The House had 17 sittings during the Winter Session of Parliament, which began on December 11.

Mahajan said 400 starred questions and 4,600 unstarred questions were answered during the Question Hour. She said 49 members were suspended for unruly behaviour during the session.
