Maoists call for poll boycott in Chhattisgarh

Maoists have asked the locals to boycott upcoming Assembly elections in Chhattisgarh.

The Election Commission on Saturday announced the schedule for Assembly elections in Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Telangana and Mizoram.

In Manpur area, bordering Maharashtra and Bastar, Maoists have put banners, posters and distributed pamphlets in the villages asking locals to refrain from voting during the Assembly elections.

On walls in premises of schools and stage of a village, using red colour, the Maoists have written in detail the reason for the poll boycott.

Pamphlets issued by Dandakaranya Zonal Committee spokesperson Vikalp has been distributed.

The pamphlets have raised alleged corruption and scams during the BJP government rule.
