MIM chief Owaisi welcomes aerial strikes

All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi on Tuesday welcomed the aerial strikes by Indian Air Force on terrorists' hideouts in across the border and said that his party is fully behind the government.

“I welcome the aerial strikes. I was hoping that it would happen much earlier, 12 days ago. A right action was taken, the whole country is behind the government,” he said speaking to media at party headquarters in Darussalam.

“We hope that our armed forces are fully ready to face any retaliatory action by Pakistan,” he said.

He also said that India has immunity under the UN Charter Article 51 as it gives the right to self-defence. “The modern interpretation of Article 51 is that if any country doesn’t take action against non-state actors then self-defence is our right. India has used its right. So the MIM fully backs the decision,” he said.

He also expressed hope that armed forces will catch terror masterminds Masood Azhar and Hafiz Saeed.
