Minor fakes molestation story to avoid studies

When the girl was produced before the magistrate for recording her statement she denied her claims.

A 13-year-old girl from Panipat, in Haryana, fabricated a story that she was kidnapped and molested by 10 men in the fields.

She did it just because she wanted to get rid of her studies.

On receiving the complaint, the Panipat police acted swiftly and registered a case, among other, under relevant sections of the Prevention of Children against Sexually Offenses (POCSO) Act.

But, when the girl was produced before the magistrate for recording her statement she denied her claims.

The minor girl said that her mother would force her to study hard at home which she never liked.

On Monday after school hours, the girl went missing. When the family came looking for their daughter, she pretended to be in an unconscious state lying in the fields. She later claimed that she was kidnapped and molested.

The police are now probing as to why the girl's father in his complaint cited a black car and 10 men who molested his daughter after drugging her.

The kidnapping and molestation case of the 13-year-old girl comes in contrast to the recent spate of rape and molestation cases being reported from Haryana.

In another case of gang rape of a 32-year-old widow from Kosli village in Haryana's Rewari, the police have found that the case was a honey trap to extract money from the accused.

After rape charges were leveled, a deal was stuck which is when the accused informed the Jind police.

A trap to unfold the mystery was laid by the police. Three persons were arrested when part payment of Rs 2 lakh was being made.

While such fabricated cases may be minuscule, the reality in Haryana suggests that crime against women, especially molestation and rape cases, have risen more than 45% since 2015.

On an average, at least 4 women are raped or sexually assaulted everyday in Haryana.
