Minor killed by step-mother

A nine-year-old boy was reportedly killed by his step-mother here, police said on Sunday, PTI reports from Amritsar

The accused reportedly slit the boy's throat with a knife on Saturday as she was "jealous" of the boy's bond with his father, after which she threw the body into a village canal, Senior Superintendent of Police (Amritsar Rural) Parmpal Singh here.

The SSP said the body was found in the village canal of Ajanla.

The boy's mother approached police and accused the woman of killing her son, he said.

She told police that the woman and her husband used to get into heated arguments because of the boy.
