Modi, KCR conspired against voters

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Capt N Uttam Kumar Reddy said Prime Minister Narender Modi and caretaker Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao together conspired to deprive lakhs of people of their voting rights by advancing the Assembly elections.

Addressing the Hyderabad Merger Day celebrations after hoisting the national flag at Gandhi Bhavan on Monday, Reddy said both the BJP government at the Centre and the TRS government in Telangana were trying to throttle democracy in the state.

He said the deletion of 20-30 lakh names from the electoral rolls was not incidental, but was a deliberate move as part of a larger conspiracy.

He said the Modi-KCR duo also tried to connive with Election Commission of India to implement their conspiracy.

He said the Congress party would not allow this conspiracy to work and would fight until each and every eligible citizen gets enrolled in the voter list.

He demanded that the elections for the Telangana Assembly be held only after carrying out all corrections in the electoral rolls.

Reddy said the TRS had completely crushed people's freedom. He said leaders of public organisations, such as Prof Haragopal, Prof Kodandaram, Varavara Rao and others, are being harassed by the police.

He said democracy has been put in peril as four crore people are harassed just to please the four members of the KCR family.

Reddy said it is essential that, to save democracy, the Congress party return to power. He said Dharna Chowk will be restored within 10 days of the Congress party coming to power.

He said the next Congress government, in consultation with people's organisations, will establish a mechanism wherein every individual or organisation would be free to express views on anything.
