Narada was like Google: Gujarat CM Rupani

Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani joined the league of his Tripura contemporary Biplab Deb by making a comparison between modern day technology and Indian mythological characters.

Rupani drew an analogy between Narada, believed to be Hindu messenger of Gods, with search engine Google while speaking at an event organised by the Vishwa Samvad Kendra to celebrate Devrishi Narad Jayanti here on Sunday.

“This is relevant in today’s time that Narada was a man of information; who had information about the whole world. Collecting information was his dharma for the betterment of the humankind, and it is very much required...Google is the source of information just like Narad because he knew everything happening in the world,” the chief minister said.

This is not the first time Rupani was showing off his deep knowledge about Indian mythology and modern-day technology. In August last year, while addressing a gathering of engineering students at a convocation of Institute of Infrastructure Technology Research and Management, Rupani had said, “each arrow of Lord Ram was a missile. The work that Isro does today (launching rockets), Lord Rama used to release in those days.”

Rupani had said this in presence of the Isro director.

“Narada’s character featured in both Indian epics, Ramayana and Mahabharata, and he was known for carrying information around the universe,” Rupani stressed in his address to his audience attending Devrishi Narad Jayanti.

Rupani’s remarks come at a time when the Tripura chief minister has been in news for suggesting that internet was invented during Mahabharata to why mechanical engineers should not opt for UPSC. He had also questioned the rationale of Diana Hayden winning Miss Universe title.
