Cong wanted NPR without NRC, says Kamal Nath

Chief Minister Kamal Nath on Wednesday afternoon led an impressive Congress march against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the National Citizen Register (NCR).

Thousands of Congress workers sporting Gandhi cap and bearing tricolour along with volunteers of social organisations joined the peace march which culminated in a public meeting at Roshanpura square in the heart of the town.

Addressing the gathering, the chief minister said the peace march was organised to draw the people’s attention to flagrant violation of the Constitution of India.

“The CAA which has been enacted and the NCR which is mooted are a direct onslaught on the Constitution of India. The question is not what is written in the CAA, the question is what is not written in the act, and what is not written paves the door for its misuse,” he said.

Accusing the Modi government of trying to divert attention from pressing issues such as economic slowdown and unemployment in the country, Kamal Nath said his government will not implement the CAA which will lead to the destruction of India’s coming generations.
