Jagan meets Governor, seeks protection for EVMs

YSRCP Chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy met Governor ESL Narasimhan at the Raj Bhavan here on Tuesday and apprised him of the law and order situation in the state of Andhra Pradesh. He urged the governor to hand over the protection of the EVMs to central forces, expressing apprehensions about the security provided by the state police.

“I urged the Governor to take control of all the strong rooms, we have seen how the strong room doors in Machilipatnam of Krishna district were opened and the EVMs were moved out. Hence, we sought the governor to inform the concerned authorities to link the strong rooms directly with the EC,” Jagan said. He alleged that the collectors are in hand in glove with the Chandrababu Naidu’s government. “At present, the CC TV footage can be seen only by the district collectors,” he said

Demanding that a case must be booked against AP Assembly speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao for locking himself inside a polling booth in Enumatla under Sattenapalli assembly segment on 11 April, Jagan said that no one attacked Kodela but the speaker tore his shirt and enacted a big scene. “Why no case was booked against him,” he asked.

Jagan also wants the centre to direct the Chief Secretary of the state to take control of all financial operations and to resist Naidu from making any major payments. “ If you leave Naidu with the administration he will see that all the crucial evidence of his scams are wiped out. He is also distributing cheques to those very close to him,” Jagan said adding that the present government has only introduced a vote-on-account budget and not a full-fledged budget. The incumbent government will take care of that, he said.

Jagan also criticized Naidu for enacting the EVM drama saying that none of the voters that voted on 11 April made a complaint against EVMs. ‘Naidu said that he is not sure whether his vote went to the correct symbol. But no one other than Naidu made that complaint, which means that there was nothing wrong with the EVMs,” Jagan said. “Naidu says that he invented Computers, the IT and the Mobiles. He will say he coached shuttler Sindhu, if she loses a match then he says its her fault,” Jagan said.
