A day after an anti-terror court in Haryana acquitted Swami Aseemanand in the 2007 bombing of the Samjhauta Express blast case, senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley on Thursday hit out at BJP detractors and recalled that the "vicious theory" of Hindu terror was coined during the UPA government by important UPA ministers and leaders.
Latching on to two more developments on Wednesday — the arrest of Nirav Modi in London and a conviction in Sabaramati case — Jaitley, in a blog entitled "Three Fake Campaigns Busted in a Single Day", said "fake campaigns of the compulsive contrarians" has finally been busted in a single day.
"The vicious theory of 'Hindu terror' was coined during the UPA Government by important UPA Ministers and leaders. The Compulsive Contrarians adopted it. Yesterday's verdict by the court has judicially put the last nail in the coffin of the so-called Hindu terror theory.
He said that the Hindu terror theory was a “conspiracy to give a bad name to the otherwise liberal majority community in India" as "on terrorism, Hindus were drawn into equivalence" even as "terror is alien to the Hindu culture".
Jaitley said that the US state department and the United Nations kept indicating a certain Jehadi organisation and individuals responsible for the 2007 blasts at Panipat but it was considered by the then government as a "Hindu conspiracy".
He said that with Nirav Modi's arrest in London the compulsive contrarians' "fakery" has again been exposed. Jaitley said this also busts the fake campaign that the present government had anything to do with him. The country is reassured again that whoever cheats India and its institutions cannot get away.
On the burning of the Sabarmati Express in 2002, which he said was an attempt to instigate social and communal tension in the state, the Union Minister said that the "compulsive contrarians" who had made a career out of creating social tensions in Gujarat were exposed again on Wednesday, when the court convicted one more accused.
He said many compulsive contrarians had made a career out of creating social tensions in Gujarat and started contending that the burning was self-engineered by either the State or the Kar Sevaks.
He also referred to the Justice U N Banerjee report during then Railway Minister Lalu Prasad’s tenure in the UPA I government, which submitted there there was no burning by the mob and that the fire had started inside the compartment where the Hindu pilgrims were.
Jaitley said he regards this "subversion of evidence in order to cover up the heinous crime as the worst stigma on the UPA Government and its prime minister".
