Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the star campaigner of BJP, is scheduled to launch the party’s Lok Sabha election campaign in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday evening.

The grand start of the BJP’s election campaign in the region will take place from Modi’s ‘Vijay Sankalp rally’ scheduled to be held in the outskirts of Jammu city at the Doomi panchayat in Bhalwal, a BJP leader said.

He said the Prime Minister is scheduled to arrive in Jammu by an Indian Air Force special aircraft at around 4.30pm and then take a chopper to Doomi-Akhnoor, some 25 kilometres from the city of temples, to address a campaign rally.

“Prime Minister is likely to reach the rally venue at around 5 pm and after the 55-minute public address and meetings with senior party functionaries, he is scheduled to return to New Delhi thereafter,” the leader added.

Modi will seek votes for the BJP candidates - Jugal Kishore Sharma from Jammu and Jitendra Singh from Udhampur - who are seeking re-election. The constituencies are due for polling in the first two phases of the General Elections.

On 1 December 2013, Modi had kickstarted BJP’s Lok Sabha election campaign from Jammu by addressing one of the biggest public rallies in the state in recent history.
