Andaman went to polls for the first time in 1967.
Conducting polls here was a difficult task.
The Andaman Islands were easy for officials while it was not possible to establish contact with a few small, primitive tribes like Onges, Jarwas and residents of North Sentinal Islands.
47,064 people (32,386 men and 14,678 women) were enrolled.
36,924 people voted in the election in which six candidates took part.
