Poll-O-Meter: Like votes... Every penny counts

The Election Commission saved at least Rs 1 crore in 1951 general elections.

All it did was to use paper seals instead of the “costly locks” to secure 26 lakh ballot boxes.

After consulting India Security Press in Nasik, seals were made of water-marked paper.

The cost incurred was Rs 11.24 lakh.
