Nine killed in different road accidents in Kerala

Nine people, including six members of a family and a grama panchayat president, were killed in different road accidents in the State on Friday.

In the first incident, a car in which a family was travelling collided with a KSRTC bus at Nelamel near Kottarakkara in Kollam district in the morning leaving the driver and six members of the family dead and eight injured.

The police said the deceased were: Ajithkumar of Kadakkal, his wife, Sunisha, son Unnikutten, mother Vijayamma, sister-in-law Reguminiamma, her daughter Neethu and the car driver Manesh. The family was returning after visiting Mookambika temple. Police say that the accident occurred as the driver might have dozed. Chief minister Oommen Chandy and Forest Minister K B Ganeshkumar visited the hospital where the bodies were kept and paid their homage.
