Nitin Gadkari to visit Polavaram site

For the first time after Telugu Desam Party severed ties with the BJP in the state and Centre, Union Minister of Road Transport and Water Resources Nitin Gadkari will visit Polavaram dam site on July 11.

According to Andhra Pradesh Minister for Water Resources Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, the state government has been making efforts to complete the world's second largest dam project as per schedule.

He said 56% of the work was completed so far.

On Monday, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu conducted a review meeting in Amaravati on the progress of the Polavaram project at secretariat.

Giving details of the 66th virtual review meeting of Polavaram project, the minister said the crest gates erection would be commenced by September.

The minister said 42.16% of head works, 40.65% of main dam package works, 75.80% of excavation works, 28.40% concrete works, 61.30% of radial gates works, 100% diaphragm wall works, 90.70% of jet grouting works, 58.32% connectivity packages, 90% of right main canal works and 61.67% of left main canal works have been completed so far.
