Unidentified militants shot at and injured two civilians in south Kashmir’s restive Shopian district on Wednesday.
Reports said that the gunmen barged inside a chemist shop in Zainapora, Shopian, 52 km from here, at around 3 pm and fired upon Irfan Hameed and Muzafar Ahmad. Both of them suffered injuries and were shifted to district hospital Anantnag in critical condition.
Soon after the incident a joint team of army and special operations group (SOG) of J&K police launched a cordon-and-search operation in the area to nab the assailants.
No militant organisation claimed responsibility for the attack till evening.
