Notice to Haryana govt over Rajiv Trust

Last Updated 17 November 2011, 19:30 IST

The allotment had come under the scanner after certain contentions were raised with regards to the allotment by the government. The petitioner in this case has challenged the Haryana government’s decision to allot around 5 acre of land to the RGCT run by the Gandhi family for 33 years.

It also challenges the allotment of 9 kanal (4,500 sq yards) land to another trust—church gate medical society. The petitioner has pleaded the government had allotted land to RGCT with the sole purpose of pleasing the trust. The petitioner has sought directions to quash the December 6, 2010 orders following which the land at Ullawas village was directed to be released from acquisition despite issuance of notification under section 4 and 6 under the land acquisition act.

The petition has said the allotment of land to RGCT was completely arbitrary and would serve no benefits to the villagers. The notice has also been issued to Haryana Urban Development Authority, Deputy Commissioner Gurgaon and Mumbai-based Church Gate Society and the Sarpanch of Ullawas village.

The case has been fixed for hearing for November 25.
