Last Updated 29 July 2009, 10:20 IST

As the House witnessed noisy scenes for the third in running, NPP and BJP members stood up from their seats and jointly made the demand for a separate assembly for Jammu.

Balwant Singh Monkotia, Harsh Dev Singh, Yash Paul Kundal (all NPP) raised the issue which was supported by 11 BJP leaders who also raised slogans alleging discrimination with the Jammu region.

"Close this House, give us a separate assembly," the NPP and BJP members demanded.

Defending the demand for the separate assembly, Monkotia said, "We have come here for a purpose to take up the issues and problems of the people we represent and find a solution but the House is not being allowed to run.

"NC-PDP-Congress have to settle their scores. But why should other people suffer. The House is not being allowed to run, hence our demand for separate assembly for Jammu is justified," he said outside the House.
