Pakistan seems not to have learnt its lesson even as it faced a resounding defeat in Kargil and still continues to indulge in ceasefire violations, Eastern Army Commander Lieutenant General M M Naravane said on Friday while addressing the media on the occasion of Kargil Diwas.

“Some (Pakistan) just don’t learn their lessons and you have to keep teaching them till they learn. Our western neighbour continues to indulge in ceasefire violations. The sooner they learn the better,” said Naravane.

He paid tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice at the Kargil in 1999, at the Eastern Command Headquarters at Fort William.

“Lt Gen M M Naravane, General Officer Commanding in Chief, Eastern Command, laid a wreath at Vijay Smarak, Fort William, Kolkata, on 26 July 2019 and paid homage to the martyrs, honouring their supreme sacrifice during ‘Operation Vijay’. He urged All ranks to carry forward the legacy established by the immortal soldiers and continue serving the nation with renewed vigour and dedication,” stated a release issued by the defense ministry.
