Pak Independence Day celebrated today at its Delhi mission

Pakistan's High Commissioner to India Salman Bashir today hoisted his country's flag here on the occasion of Pakistan's Independence Day.

The officers, staff and their families in the Pakistan High Commission celebrated their 66th Independence Day with traditional fervour and zeal.

The day started with morning prayers at the High Commission's mosque for the prosperity and well being of Pakistan, a statement here said.

High Commissioner Bashir raised the Pakistani flag to the tune of his country's national anthem.

The flag hoisting was followed by reading out of messages from Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf.

Bashir congratulated the Pakistani community in India on the occasion of their Independence Day and underscored the determination of each and every Pakistani wherever she/he may be to hold high the national flag, the statement said.

The students of the school at the High Commission sang the national song and presented a tableau in their national and regional attires.

Later, Taranum Bashir, wife of the High Commissioner, distributed prizes and gifts amongst the participating children.
