Eight passengers were injured on Monday when an aircraft belonging to Vistara encountered severe turbulence minutes before landing at the Kolkata Airport. According to a source at the airport, out of the eight injured passengers in Vistara’s Mumbai-Kolkata flight, three are in critical condition. Flight UK 775 landed at the airport at 4.25 pm on Monday.
“Eight passengers were injured as the aircraft encountered turbulence. Three of them sustained critical injuries and five sustained minor injuries. The three have been admitted at the Charnock Hospital in Kolkata,” Airport source said.
They further revealed that the aircraft carrying 123 passengers encountered turbulence due to bad weather at around 4 pm when it was around 25 nautical miles from the city.
A Vistara spokesperson said that “the incident is being investigated on priority basis.” He also said that the airline was saddened by the unfortunate incident the passenger had to face.
