Kerala Janapaksham party led by independent MLA P C George has formally joined the NDA, thereby enhancing BJP's base in Pathanamthitta constituency.

George along with BJP Kerala president P S Sreedharan Pillai announced the decision at a press conference in Pathanamthitta on Wednesday.

George, a former Kerala Congress leader, contested as an independent candidate at Poonjar assembly constituency in 2016 and won with a margin of over 27,000 votes. He has considerable influence in Kanjirapally assembly segment. Both Poojar and Kanjirapally have considerable Christian population under Pathanamthitta constituency.

Both Congress and CPM have fielded candidates belonging to the Christian community — sitting MP Anto Antony and sitting MLA of Aranmula assembly segment Veena George.

George had earlier supported BJP's Pathanamthitta candidate K Surendran. Now he has decided to join the NDA officially.
